Book Donations

Keep in mind that these are the wish lists of teachers needing tools to do their job of educating children to go on to another level. The biggest shortage that I found is Pre Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade. This is when our children are introduced into reading. If they are not interested in reading or being read to after the First Grade then we have probably lost them. The interest in reading comes from the home and class room. If the books are not available, then it probably won't happen. With the parents working and struggling to survive a disaster, you have to hope that the school libraries and classrooms have the books available.

Many teachers are working without reference and instructional books. These are not included in many grants. Please consider these requests as they are usually for Special Education and Teaching English as a Second Language.

My first disaster area that I am requesting assistance for is the South Plaquemines Parish.

The Principal is Theresita Ancar and she can be reached at tancar@ppsb.org.
The Librarian is Marsha (Kay) Hammond and she can be reached at mhammond@ppsb.org.

Please contact them for their school book needs. We hope to be adding more disaster areas to this website. We are using the Principals and Librarians as contacts, so please provide that information too, when advising us of other disaster areas. Disaster areas, however big or small. Every child is just as important.
